Q: I am engaged, now what? A: There are certain decisions that require more time than others; one is your bridal gown. Bridal gowns are made to order, therefore take 4-6 months to arrive at the bridal store after ordering. Then, you have to allow time for any alterations needed to the gown. So, it is never too early to shop for your bridal gown.
Q: But I am not getting married until the Fall... A: Bridal gowns are not designed by the weather, but what is in fashion. For example, strapless remains to be a strong style, no matter what month you are getting married.
Q: How long does it take to order bridesmaid dresses? A: Bridesmaid dresses require 12 weeks (that is three months) to arrive in the bridal store after all bridesmaids are measured. It takes time to pick a style and get your girls measured, so begin early. Once the dresses arrive, you need to allow time to ship the dresses to anyone not in the area, as well as time for alterations.
Q: What is all this talk about alterations? A: Bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses are made to a size chart to accommodate a wide range of people. So, almost EVERYONE needs some sort of altering to the dress. Lady Hamilton does have a seamstress in-house for you and your wedding party. Alterations are available at an additional charge. Appointments are required.
Q: Why are alterations additional if everyone needs them? A: What you are buying when you order a dress is: The Dress, as it comes from the designer. You do not need to use our seamstress if you know someone else who is able to do the work. We hire only the most professional bridal seamstresses available. We stand behind all our alterations.
Q: Do I need to make an appointment? A: We prefer to have appointments on Saturdays to try on bridal gowns. During the week, you may stop in, or call for an appointment. Bridesmaids also only require appointments on Saturdays. Appointments are necessary for all alterations. The seamstress is by appointment only.
Q: What do I need to bring with me when trying on gowns? A: Lady Hamilton recommends one or two friends and MOM. The more people you bring, the more opinions, the more confused you can become. Bring only the people whose opinion you value. No sense bringing someone who could make your experience a bad one. We also recommend bringing some pictures of styles you are interested in trying. It is always a good starting point to try on what has caught your eye. Lady Hamilton provides the shoes and undergarments you will need.
Q: Will the sample gowns fit me? A: Lady Hamilton understands not all brides are the same. We carry sizes 2-32 in stock. We try to have a range of styles in all sizes. If the sample is not exactly the right size, our staff of consultants is available to fit the sample to you.
Q: What else does Lady Hamilton carry? A: Lady Hamilton is a full service bridal salon that carries everything for the bride. Not only do we stock over 200 bridal gowns, and three hundred bridesmaids dresses, we stock a selection of shoes (we also have special order shoes), veils and headpieces. We also have a selection of undergarments perfect for the wedding day. Lady Hamilton offers tuxedoes for the wedding party, with the largest selection of accessories available. Lady Hamilton carries flower girl and junior bridesmaid dresses.
Q: I saw a dress on the Internet... A: The Internet is a great resource for finding styles and designers. We use the Internet every day to see the latest fashions available. HOWEVER, Lady Hamilton, the designers we carry, as well as brides we have spoken to DO NOT RECOMMEND purchasing any bridal attire on-line. If something were to go wrong, you the bride have no recourse. These sites are usually not allowed to sell merchandise on the Internet. Lady Hamilton will not match Internet prices. Lady Hamilton will not alter merchandisse purchased from the Internet.
